I’m bored, I’m at work, and I’m looking for more info on the two gentlemen who are going to try to win my vote in November to become the Most Powerful Man in the World. Yes, I’m getting into the US Presidential Election.
Now, many people consider George Bush at best, a bumbling idiot. He’s made some good decisions, and some really awful decisions. Everyone knows that. He’s made mistakes, and can even make fun of them. I voted for Bush in the last election, I beleive it’s good to have someone with a bit of charisma, Gore didn’t have the charsima to lead us. He had good ideas, but he still didn’t really carry himself like a leader.
Now there’s this John Kerry fella. Howard Dean would have been a much better choice. The guy was screaming, and yelling, and generally exited, John Kerry doesn’t know if he’s coming or going. Mr. Kerry seems to contridict himself at every turn, I know that Bush is using this point in his propaganda machine against the Kerry campaign, but look how true it is. Kerry had 1 tour in Vietnam, and then went back for _Another_ … and when he came home? He vehemently opposed the war, he publicly debated over it (and he looked like quite the tool, I’ve seen some of the videos). Now, in his advertisements, he’s proclaiming all the great things he did in Vietnam. Pulling people out of ditches, saving people’s lives. My hat’s off to you for doing these things sir, however when you returned to the States, you sure showed your fellow soldiers what their lives meant to you, by blasting them, and what they were doing over there.
Kerry can’t keep his facts straight, I have a hard time believing that he’ll be able to run a country, The only thing that he could do worse, is get Dukakis as his running mate.

Kerry flip flops on abortion:
http://www.lifenews.com/nat519.html
He called himself a war hero but calls fellow soldiers “war criminals”…? His own testimony to congress about vietnam and today’s veterans hate towards him should be enough. He’s no war hero. And he wants to point the finger at bush for taking another path? OMG….that’s a joke right? Why did he even accept the medals given to him? An honorable man would have refused them if he really felt convicted about what went on there.
And there’s no way you are right about soldiers. You are confusing soldiers with politicians
Politicians are the ones responsible for preventing war, not soldiers. And when they can’t - they call the troops in. It’s your line of thinking that keeps us from being able to anihilate Iraq right now. We have thousands of soldiers DIRECTING TRAFFIC. And I hate Bush for being so spineless right now. But it’s the liberal pressure that is forcing us to not act swiftly and take out the terrorists. It’s the liberal fear that despite the fact that everone pretty much agrees Vietnam was not a good idea, that we will still repeat that war? How stupid do you have to be - nobody wants a Vietnam repeat!
I didn’t mean to be so black and white about soldiers though. I respect every soldier. I think that debating “real soldiers” is not the point really anyway. Kerry is just a loser politician. His service was nothing more then a rung in his political ladder. Good for him.

I’m actually not even all that democratic, depending on the specific issue I fall on either side, although generally more democratic.
I know people keep saying Kerry shifts back and forth, but I’ve yet to really see it. Meh, I don’t really care, I’d vote for freaking Mofo to be president over bush.

Overseer you Democrat!
I guess most of you are missing my point though, Kerry says one thing, and does another. He’s been doing it for years, and when confronted on it, he contridicts himself.

I don’t think deadsexy did a real good job of reading what I said.
Why can’t a real soldier, who did his duty to his fellow soldiers by going not once, but twice to Vietnam, come back and want to end the war? He was over there and saw that the war was not going to go well and that thousands of other GIs were going to die needlessly.
A REAL soldier’s job is to protect his country from war or destruction. And Vietnam wasn’t protecting the country and was only putting thousands of GIs in an early grave.
There was never a point where he didn’t respect his fellow veterans, the people he didn’t respect were the ones that were pushing the war on, rather than ending it.
And most importantly, a REAL soldier would never forget what they’ve gone through. Because as soon as soldiers forget what a war is, we repeat history and more people die needlessly. A soldiers number 1 job is to prevent a war from ever happening. That’s what the US Army’s doctrine is. The soldiers exist to prevent war, not to fight in war. If it comes to it, they fight, they fight fast and hard, and end it, but the goal is to never have to go and fight.

Yeah, and George Bush is a “REAL soldier” for using his family’s influence to weasel out of going to Nam… And then ditching out of his service so he could snort cocaine… Talk about sacrificing for your country.

The fact that he [Kerry] is taking credit for doing something “honorable” [taking shrapnel], and allowing us to think Bush is somehow “unpatriotic” for joining the National Guard alone leads me to grunt at the thought of his presidency. Not so much that he protested along with other soldiers. But:
REAL soldiers do not protest when they get home. REAL soldiers would rather forget what they experienced, and move on with their lives. REAL soldiers do not criticize fellow men for their rank or position. REAL soldiers do not sell out in hopes of achieving top billing in the White House.
There are very few REAL soldiers left on this planet.

Touche, Overseer. The problem I have with Kerry are his strange comments, they’re even more cryptic than bush’s … did he ever explain how he could vote for something before he voted against it?

You know, Kerry along with MANY veterans were protesting the policies of the Vietnam War… Something most people today feel the same way about…
The real problem isn’t necessarily the stuff he’s saying, but the ignorance of the people listening. Which isn’t to say he’s a great choice necessarily, but I don’t think the things people are focusing on him about are accurate.
