You know how my life has been just peachy? Everything has been going well over the last month and a half?

I get a call this morning from the company I do my Contracting through. The guy says “I need you to come in here before you go to work”.

There’s that ulcer again.

“uh, sure.. I’ll be there in a bit”

So I drive out to the office, sit down, and they tell me that they did a scan of everyone’s computers, and they’re going to let me go because ‘unauthroized software’ was found on my system, and it was used to access other systems.

You know what this ‘unauthorized software’ was?

Fucking PuTTY. A simple SSH client that I used occasionally to access my Linux boxen at home.
It doesn’t install anything in the registry, it’s a simple executable file. It’s a secure, encrypted connection between two machines.

Apparantly they’re doing this to everyone’s computer, and I wasn’t the only one that had ‘unauthorized software’ discovered on my machine. The part that really gets me? People knew about it, and didn’t really say anything.

So, Mike gets Black Flagged on the Last Lap. I’m back to square 1. Start all over again with the job hunt. I’ve got about $300 to last me until I find a new job… last time it took me 7 months.
