Sorry about the lack of updates, there really hasn’ t been much to write about. I recently re-subscribed to Star Wars Galaxies, and have been spending an ungodly amount of time playing it. (Trying to get my money’s worth, eh!)

Anyway, I started my new job today working at Kimberly-Clark’s Computer Center.

This place is hella-cool. Orignally a mansion, in the 1970’s it was purchased by KC, and rennovated. They dug down about 3 stories, and put all the mainframes for the company underground. This was in case of Nuclear war, Their data would be somewhat safe.

The area I work in is really dark, and I Like that. It has about the level of light you have outside at night with the streetlights on. It’s easy on the eyes, and calms the vampiric soul (Vampires have souls too!).

I’m of course, working helpdesk. We’re going through training on their systems right now, and might be taking calls as early as the middle of next week. But who cares about that, eh? :)
I’ll be working a day-shift (8am-4:30pm) until July 19th, and then will me moving to a 3:30pm-midnight shift. (we do support for people all over the world). Our setup is next to the Operations center, which kind of looks like the Johnson Space Center, only smaller. Clocks from different timezones are up on the wall, Computers are built into cabinets .. again, it’s all quite neat.

But like every job, it has it’s downfalls. After having such freedom at Thrivent, with my own desk and huge work area, my own laptop and whatnot, I don’t get any of those things at KC. I’ll have to share my desk with someone who works 6am-2:30pm. Here’s hoping my Dilbert Candy dispenser will be safe & sound with someone else’s watchful eye on it. It’s not a red Swinline Stapler, but it’s almost as cool :)
