Why do people come to work sick? Why do they feel that they must spread their germs to the rest of us? Do they subconciously, or even conciously wish their misery upon the hoards of other drones that they work with on a dialy basis?
I’m sitting here writing this, and someone about 20 feet away from me, is coughing their damn-fool-head off. not the simple little cough, but the deep chest rattling “I have the flu, stay the fuck away from me” cough.
I’m not so sure what’s more annoying. The fact that this person (I haven’t gotten up to look at who it is yet, it’s somebody in the Computer Operations area) came to work this bloody sick, or the fact that they let out one of those annoying coughs approxamately every 20 seconds.
Working this late at night, I hear everything that goes on on this floor of the building. I can hear someone sneezing, the afforementioned Mr/Ms-Coughs-A-Lot coughing, and blowing his/her nose, and someone else sniffling.
I’m wondering if I should invest in a Premium Quality Biohazard Suit. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure I’d get sent home for not having work-appropriate attire on, while yonder whooping-cough-person gets to spread their disease to everyone here.
Well, either way I’d be away from the walking biological weapon… if the ends justify the means… eh?

Once a month! eek…get your bio-suite out dude
HAHA ROFL good one Vanish.
It is true, the pressure to come in sick is high. We have the “sick day” abusers to thank for that though. If people only called in sick when they are “really sick” then it wouldn’t matter.

Wow. They vaccuum here every day. Once a month they polish the rubberized floor in the data center.
I came to work very, very ill last week. Why? Well, several newspapers ran an article the week before, oddly enough, about why people go to work very ill and threaten the health of their coworkers. The requirement to show loyalty to the company. While I am loyal, there was another reason at play for me:
The company I work for penalizes you for being ill. After so many penalties in a year, you lose your job. There is a catch though: If you get sent home by management, they can’t penalize you. So I was here hacking away, with a migraine to boot. Of course, my boss never sends anyone home… unless he feels threatened by the illness. My luck? He was home sick that day himself. :/

Hey, do you hear the vacuum going too? That must be strange working those hours. The only time I ever worked those hours I was outdoors.
