Smegging Hell!

I’m so sick of hearing about the Terri Schiavo issue. The lady is a vegetable, she can’t move, talk, do anything, and her parents are trying to keep her alive. To me, that’s cruel and unusual punishment. The problem with this, is Terri has no Living Will. Terri’s husband, who ironically has a new girlfriend and is living with her (or something like that). Said that she wanted to die if she was put in such a state. Her parents demand that she stay alive.

Now, I ask you this. You’re effectively brain-dead. Would you want to live that way? There’s no miracle cure coming, she’s not going to miraculously snap out of it.. the lights are on, but nobody’s home.

What kills me is how big this has gotten. Congress wastes hours discussing this, and trying to pass a bill about it when there’s so many other things they could/should be doing. Now, on top of it all, Jeb Bush is trying to adopt her!

Anyway, they have removed the feeding tube, she’s got a couple weeks at most left to live. Basically they’re starving her to death. Now, I think that’s pretty cruel, the least they could do would be to give her one of those lethal injections that Bush was so fond of.

Teri Schaivo will die from starvation and/or dehydration. The irony of this fact? … An eating disorder put her in this vegetative state in the first place.

Well, haven’t you thought about it this way, ms. Breuers: SHE DOES NOT FEEL ANYTHING… as DaiTengu pointed out, her IQ is less than my printer’s IQ… and as her brain is almost dead, she does not feel anything… geesh, why do people have to look conspiracies everywhere… I believe it’s time to move on and stop arguing about that case, as by most of european countries laws these kinda vegetables are dead from the moment they go vegetable

Hello my name is Jackie Breuers. I am only a Freshman at Wadsworth High School in Ohio. I have
been following the Terri Shiavo case for some time now. What I don’t get is that they think lethal injection
is creul to people. WHAT ABOUT STARVING TO DEATH? Is that not cruel. Aparently it isn’t and I don’t
think it is right. Did you know that his girlfriend is just a motive to kill Terri Shiavo. All he
wants is money. Right before she had a heart attack she was also about to file for devorce. I think
he had something to do with the heart attack and when she lived for this long he decided to do somethoing
    about iit.

Also before she was put into a hospice, Terri was eating out of her mouth. Until her husband ordered
a feeding tube in her stomach, and now he wants to take it out.

I also think that Judge Greer should be looked at. No ordinary judge would do something like that.
I want to know his relationship with Mr. Shiavo’s lawyer.

    Thank you for reading this

Careful not to be too hypocritical. The thing is, if she is in a vegatative state then whether she starves or not is not relevant. She has no pain, no feeling, no emotion. She basically is already dead.

The reason they let her die naturally is an ethical reason. The point being, if she cannot survive on her own then we are not responsible for her death. On the contrary medical ethics does not believe in euthenasia (sp?) and so even a painless death would be unethical if assisted. While, simply removing the tools that were otherwise keeping her alive is not unethical. Pain or no pain. But in her case, remember, there is one in a trillion chance she feels pain anywhere during this entire process.

So it actually makes sense that in the end she will starve to death. It was her will not to be kept alive by science - and I think everyone has that right to choose. Science has given so many opportunities in our life time, but we should not become unable to have a will with regards to science intervening in our life/death process.

I also find it hypocritical of the conservative party that they are against stem cell research yet want to keep this woman alive - for no reason other then emotional/spiritual.

girl and the ppl that come down on her poor husband casue he has a gf.. come on!! she has
been like this what?! 15 years? let the guy move on.. i dont agree though that she should be
made to starve.. how cruel is that.. ppl go to jail for not feeding there pets but here we are
letting this women die like this.. its not human at all.. its sick..imagine the desperation of
the ppl around her… hell going in and shooting her in the head would be better then this.. sigh..
    im rambling so ill stop..

Agreed. Funny that you should post on this the same day I do. It’s amazing the REAL news we’re all missing because it’s overshadowed by the ridiculous plight of a daddy who can’t let go and persists in putting himself, his family, and his daughter through hell as a result.

    yo, good post dai.

i been meaning to talk about this. interesting news story. nice real life application of ethics in society :)

we all have to face death some day, and prolonging it for some poeple is just making it worse.

She’s not so much dead, as she’s a fricking vegetable. her IQ is probably less than that of your standard kitchen appliance.

I definately would not want to live in that condition.

Well, I don’t know, how US laws are, but here (in Estonia) a person is officially dead, when his/her brain is dead (like Terri Schiavo has been for about 15 years). So basically, there is no coma or stuff like that, if some brain-electrogram or something like that shows a flatline, you are dead…
