Well, it’s July 4th. For those of you that read this and aren’t in the USA, It’s the day we celebrate our nation’s birthday. On July 4th, 1776 A bunch of stodgy, old, slave-owning, religious zealots wrote some happy-feel-good words on a piece of paper that they had no intention of holding up to. We celebrate this day by blowing shit up.

Speaking of slavery, This also marks the first day after The Battle of Gettysburg. I’m somewhat of an American Civil War nut, and every year I dig out my copy of Gettysburg and watch it. This year I did it without even thinking, my wife had mentioned that Jeff Daniels had added Via Noctis to his friends list on his myspace (don’t get me started on myspace, I think it’s the most useless pile of smeg on the planet…). She found this out, because she manages the band, and designed their Myspace website. I host and maintain their regular website/forum, which is obviously much cooler, but doesn’t have the capability of networking like myspace does.

Anyway, I’m getting off track. No idea why Jeff added the band, or how he even heard of them (maybe doing a local search in the Midwest, as he is in Michigan and we’re in Wisconsin), but when I heard his name I had to go plug in Gettysburg (I’m a geek, I think Gettysburg, but most people remember him from Dumb & Dumber… personally, I despise that movie.) Shortly after doing so, I realized “hey, it’s July 2nd .. isn’t that Ironic?”

On a related note, I’ve been trying to sleep a bit today as my sleeping pattern is really messed up. I haven’t been successful, but I did manage to watch most of the extras and commentary on Clerks X. I just don’t see how people can say
Kevin Smith’s dialog can put anyone to sleep. I’m heading up to Green Bay tonight, as Via Noctis is playing at The Main Stage after the obligatory 4th of July fireworks show in that particular city. (Hence the ‘blowing shit up’ reference earlier).

On a side note, I was supposed to start classes yesterday at CTU Online but they managed to mess something up so I’m not listed to start until the 10th of August now. Hopefully they’ll get it resolved tomorrow morning. I’m actually looking forward to taking some really college courses, and none of the worthless smeg they were trying to put me through at the University of Phoenix.

For those of you who care, I’m still unemployed. The job hunt hasn’t been going too great, and I don’t foresee the market opening up any time soon for IT professionals without a college education. I’ve been doing some work in my free time for 151 Hosting, but that doesn’t pay me enough to cover the bills. So, if anyone knows of any places that are hiring locally, or that will allow me to telecommute, let me know.

And with that, this little update is done. Happy 4th of July for those in the States, and uh, Happy Monday for the rest of you poor slobs who won’t be blowing shit up tonight
