Apparently quite a few people have been bumping into the problem that, when trying to update Itunes on windows, it complains about a missing Itunes.msi file. If you Browse for this file however, you’ll find it in the location that it’s supposed to be (C:\Program Files\Apple Software Update\Packages).
I tried a few things to fix this, including downloading the latest iTunes from Apple’s website. After about 30 minutes of digging, I discovered that there’s a very simple fix.
- Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
- Install the program (MS Office not required!)
- Run the program from Start->All Programs->Windows Install Cleanup Utility
- Click on iTunes, and then click the “Remove” button
- Run the iTunes installer!
All in all the process took about 2 minutes, and once again I could download and listen to my favorite podcasts

THANK YOU SO FREAKIN MUCH! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! I SPENT HOURS TRYING TO FIX MY IPOD AFTER CLEARING THE ENTIRE LIBRARY AND AFTER MUCH WORK I HAVE FIXED IT! THANKS FOR HELPING ME FIND THE ANSWER TO WHY THE UPDATE FOR ITUNES WASN’T WORKING.

Wow, thank you soooo much!!
My birthday was yesterday and I got iTunes cards and stuff blah blah blah, and when I wanted to buy some CDs, it said I had to update to the newest version and this error popped up!
But this helpped me soooo much thank youuuuuuuuuuuu <3333

Gee! If it hadn’t been for you I would still try to locate the “itunes.msi” in my hard disk. Your advice saved me time and effort on updating my Itunes to the latest version.
