I’ve been tinkering around with advertisements on a few of my sites over the last week or so in an effort to generate some sort of income. The goal is to make enough per month to be able to afford a new dedicated server.
I decided to try out Text Link Ads as a form of income, and I’m quite happy with them so far. You can see currently one person has purchased a link on my site, and with luck, about 9 more will as well. I’m currently looking for a secondary option for text ads, since adsense has rejected me (A few years back, some asshat click-click-clicked on a bunch of ads at War Ensemble and they banned me for it). Ideally I want something that pays well, and is targeted towards the site, because, let’s be honest here, no one who’s reading this is going to click on a “Cheap Pharmaceuticals” or “Refinance your Student Loan” ad.
Still, I’m quite happy with Text Link Ads thus far. I just need to sit down and flush out a decent plan and design for this site, to decide what type of content I should offer the most of. So far my backup scripts are generating a bit of buzz, but that may just be due to the fact that I’ve been promoting them pretty hard.
Anyway, give TLA a shot, If this site can get an advertiser in less than 48 hours, I’m sure yours can too.

Suuure you are. That said, Akismet is working great for me. very rarely does any spam slip by it.
