Apparently will be delivering an , platform for mobile devices later this year according to CEO Ed Colligan. The annoucement was made at Palm’s “Analyst Day” this morning and is being described as a “new foundation for Palm”. The platform will contain aspects of both Linux and Palm OS Garnet.

According to Colligan, Palm will not license the new OS to outside vendors, so if you want Linux on your handheld, you’ll need to hack your Pocket PC, buy a Sharp Zaurus or buy a Palm.
