Microsoft has slowly been picking off Linux vendors one by one to sign “non-infringement” pacts with the Redomond, WA behemoth. Novell, Xandros and Linspire have all bowed to what is most certainly more FUD spread by Microsoft and signed the pacts. However, the big-name companies like Red Hat, Ubuntu, and most recently Mandriva have come out and said they’d sign no such deal.
Is anyone else eerily reminded of SCO all of a sudden? Has Microsoft sunk this low? It’s not the “Linux stole from us” attitude I’m talking about here, but the “Linux stole from us but we’re not going to tell you what” attitude. I’m beginning to think this is some sort of marketing ploy combined with their usual FUD to drum up controversy. I think they’ve been rather upset at the lack of press they’re getting.
“There’s no such thing as bad publicity.” They say, and Microsoft has plenty of bad publicity.
