I swore to myself I wasn’t going to write about the iPhone. After all, there’s enough hype about it already. It seems as if you can’t go to a single website without reading about how great it is and how you can’t afford one. Don’t get me wrong, I fully plan on getting an iPhone, but not until the price drops a bit, and by “a bit” I mean about $200-300. I’m hoping that will happen in the next 6 months or so.

Here’s the thing though, I was reading an article where they mentioned that people could buy two iPhones per person. I could understand wanting to do this if you had a family plan or something, but then I started to wonder how many people were tossing them up on eBay and what kind of price they were getting?

Apparently, these people are making a killing. There are of course some real idiots who are just asking way to much, but there’s real people who are actually bidding phones up to over $2500! I could buy a laptop for that and do VOIP! That’s just insane!

I really find it amazing how much people will pay just to be the first to own something, be it a Nintendo Wii (I bought mine in a store, while I really wanted one, I wasn’t going to pay a damn dime above retail), a Playstation 3 (I’m not going to buy one of these until they cut the price in at least half) or an XBox 360 (Needs to get a bit cheaper before I spend the dough on this). After all, whenever you’re first to get a new gadget, you’re really only testing it. The next version, or model, or whatever you call it will undoubtedly be better, faster, more powerful and quite possibly cheaper than what you’re paying 3x more than retail for.

I should have went out and bought a couple of them. I could have recuperated my money and then-some by offering it up for sale on eBay.

well, Apple has proven it’s strategy of not dropping prices but instead adding functionality for the same amount of cash… iPods, MacBooks etc… so I can’t see a reason why they would go and do something different this time :D
